What are viral warts?

Warts are caused by the human papillomavirus that infects the outer layer of skin. The most common type of wart is a raised, rough bump which commonly appears on the hands and feet. Warts can appear on any part of the body, including the face. There are many types of treatment for warts. Common treatment options include freezing, laser treatment or topical medication.
